Squiggla at Silo 6

Squiggla is back at Silo 6’s Creative Playground from 20–26 October, celebrating Play Week 2025 with a vibrant programme of free, hands-on creative experiences for all ages.

As part of Eke Panuku’s Creative Playground initiative, the 2025 programme features a week of participatory installations inside the Silos, along with offsite activations across Wynyard Quarter. Drop in for after-work creative experiments throughout the week, or join in over Labour Weekend when Silo 6 transforms into an immersive Squiggla making space — inviting everyone to play, make, imagine, and invent.

Tuesday 21st, Wednesday 22nd, and Thursday 23rd October: 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th October: 11:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Free, no bookings required

Throughout Play Week 2025, Squiggla will activate three of the Silo 6 spaces with playful, hands-on installations designed for the whole family. Drop in after work during the week, or visit during the day on Labour Weekend, for a fresh creative catalyst that invites curiosity, invention, and discovery.

In the Squiggla Rave room, explore rhythm and counter-rhythm as essential tools for creative visual thinking. Draw in time with pulsing dance music using an array of fluorescent mark-making tools brought to vivid life by blacklight illumination. Squiggla Construction brings Squiggla’s fundamental elements — marks, dots, and lines — into three-dimensional space. Create evolving 3D collages using a variety of materials, attaching them to a collaborative netting installation that grows over time. In Squiggla Loop de Loop, visitors take turns selecting and placing different pieces to build a large-scale, winding floor collage, a collective Squigglawork at the heart of the Silos.

During Play Week 2025, Squiggla will host a pop-up lunchtime activation in Tīramarama Way, Wynyard Quarter, inviting the local business community to engage with the urban environment through simple, low-impact mark making. The space becomes a canvas for non-objective abstraction using lines, dots, and marks made with an eclectic mix of mark making tools.
